Take the Next Step

At Encounter City Church, we believe baptism is the next step of obedience for every person who has placed their faith in Jesus Christ. It is a public declaration of your decision to follow Him and a celebration of the new life you have received through His grace.

Just as Jesus was baptized, we choose to follow His example. During baptism, a believer is immersed in water, symbolizing the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is an outward expression of the inward transformation that has already taken place through faith in Him.

Baptism doesn't save you—it is an act of obedience that proclaims three powerful truths: you are a follower of Jesus, your life has been made new in Christ, and you are now part of God's family.

At Encounter City Church, we believe you don't have to wait for a special event or a certain time of year to be baptized. If you've made the decision to follow Jesus and you're ready to take your next step, we'd love to celebrate with you. Whenever you're ready, we're ready.

Baptism FAQ:

  • Baptism is a public declaration of your faith in Jesus Christ. It is an outward expression of the inward transformation that has already taken place through salvation. Baptism symbolizes Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection and identifies us with our new life in Him

  • Jesus was baptized and instructed His followers to be baptized (Matthew 28:19-20). Baptism is an act of obedience that demonstrates your commitment to follow Christ and share your faith with others.

  • No. Salvation comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone—not by baptism or any good works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Baptism is an important step of obedience that follows salvation.

  • No. You do not have to be a church member to be baptized. If you've accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior and want to take this next step, we'd love to celebrate with you.

  • Wear dark-colored clothing that can get wet. We will provide a shirt for you to get baptized in. Avoid white clothing. Bring:

    • A change of clothes

    • A towel

    • Sandals or flip-flops (optional)

    • A bag for your wet clothes

    We'll provide any additional instructions before your baptism.

  • Encounter City Church believes you don't have to wait for a special baptism service, complete a certain class, or reach a certain level of spiritual maturity before taking this step. If you have placed your faith in Jesus and are ready to publicly declare that decision, we'd love to celebrate your baptism with you.
